Checks, business contracts are usually printed by using MICR toners. Certain non-negotiable documents are also printed using this toner. Basically, any document which requires the usage of magnetic ink will require the MICR toner. These, toners are a very important part of the encoding, the decoding and the reading of documents that use MICR or magnetic character ink recognition.

When you draw a check or someone gives you a check then the first thing that you do is take down the check number. This number, more accurately, the ink which is used to print this number on the check along with the reference number of the same is only possible of the check is printed with the help of a MICR toner.

Now, when you deposit this check, then the validity of the check and the amount written on the check will be transferred to the respective account if the MICR are recognized by the check reading machine. So, if the characters of the MICR ink are not printed properly or the toner is of a low quality then, the check stands a chance of cancellation. You should always use better quality of MICR toners to prevent such a case from happening.

The MICR toners usually come in the form of the HP MICR toner and the Lexmark MICR toner. Now, these toners are specific to their respective machines. If you are using a check printer manufactured by HP then you will surely have to use the toner provided by HP. Moreover, the toner you use will depend on the type of printer you have. Say you have the Lexmark E320 then, you will have to use the E320 Lexmark MICR toner for printing checks in this machine.

Toner cartridges are often designed in a such a way that they can only fit in a particular model and not two. That means you should check the model number before purchasing the cartridge.
