Kayaks, Fishermen & Dogs - Friends or Foes?

I have a bee in my bonnet at the moment and I make no apologies for it. You see I love the outdoors and I love outdoor sports. I love them so much that I started an Outdoor Sports Magazine to promote the many and varied activities that we can enjoy around the world.

In researching interesting stories and content for that website I come across countless bad news stories and complaints from  people who seemingly object to anything and everything.

The latest complaint that caught my eye comes from the fishing fraternity. What have fisherman a need to complain about (I am one by the way)? Canoes and Kayaks apparently. Fishermen in the UK want kayaks and canoes banned from rivers and lakes. Apparently it ruins the sport and damages the environment. Come on guys give me a break.

Whatever happened to understanding and cooperation? All I see these days are minorities pitching themselves against one another like they have a given right to have exclusive access to the countryside.

Surely, a canoesit or kayaker (I am one by the way and even offer a range of cheap kayaks and used kayaks for sale) has as much right to enjoy the rivers and lakes as an angler, bird spotter (I'm one of those as well) or walker (and one of these - strangley).

So I'm fed up of all these pettry confrontations and disputes. What's worse is that even significant minorities are being victimized nowadays. Before long you wont be able to take your dog for a walk in the country (they're already banned from many parks and beaches). Nope, mans best friend isn't wanted either and yes I am a dog owner as well.

So apparently, as a kayaker I don't like fisherman, as a fisherman I don't like kayakers and as I dog owner I dislike everyone. It seems that co-existing in todays world, even with yourself, is becoming a bit of a challenge.

Strangeley enough I do not dislike any of these and love the diversity they bring to the Outdoor World.  In fact, I look forward to welcoming more on more people to the wonderful world of outdoor sports.
